Students from the gifted programs at Penn-Trafford High, Penn Middle, and Trafford Middle schools have worked for months on their architecture proposals for repurposing a vacant building located at 401 Brinton Avenue in Trafford, PA. This building is located at the loop where the old streetcars would turn around.
In April, the students presented their ideas to a panel of judges. They proposed many creative applications for the building, such as a cafe, a community center, a garden center, and a book store.
Panelists Mr. Hank Tkacik (Principal Engineer at Axis Architecture), Mr. Jim Matarazzo (P.T. School Board Member), and Mr. Steve Perovich (retired P.T. teacher, historian, and Trafford Council Member) were impressed by the quality of work and they shared feedback with the students.
