Trafford Middle School hosts a monthly ‘Career Cafe’ featuring a presentation by a Trafford community volunteer.
February’s guest speaker was Mrs. Rachel Lee, a Clinical Informaticist. Her job is to provide AI-driven software (artificial intelligence) for doctors and medical coders. One of her job functions is to ensure that the natural language processing (NLP) is working correctly when it is reading a doctor’s note in a patient’s chart. Mrs. Lee’s clinical background is in nursing, and she holds an advanced degree in health informatics. The students enjoyed hearing how she combines computer technology and healthcare to improve patient care in a career field that many students had never heard of before.
All students at Trafford Middle School were given the opportunity to attend the presentation during their lunch period.
