Students Mimic Artist Dan Russo’s Work

During art classes, the seventh-grade students at Trafford Middle School were assigned the task of creating their own interpretation of Dean Russo’s artwork.  Russo is a New York artist best known for his vibrant and colorful pop art portraits of animals.

Trafford art teacher, Mrs. Lamana, suggested that students bring in photos of their pets to use as inspiration for their projects.  Throughout the assignment, students learned about Russo’s techniques, particularly focusing on the elements of art such as line, shape, color, and texture.  By applying these principles, they aimed to create portraits of their dogs in Russo’s distinctive style.
