Students Learn Valuable Skills at JA BizTown

This spring, the Trafford Middle School sixth-grade students completed the core lessons for Junior Achievement’s experiential learning program ‘JA BizTown’.

The curriculum culminated with a business simulation on Friday, March 15 where each student was ‘employed’ within a thriving community and economy.  Some of the skills and experiences gained from JA Biztown were financial literacy (managing spending and savings accounts), soft skills (teamwork, problem-solving, and business ethics), and students also got to practice formal business greetings, letter writing, job application skills, and job interviewing. “Students should now better understand how the world works and his or her future role as employer, employee, consumer, saver, and investor,” commented school counselor Mrs. McGraw.
