Welcome!

Welcome to the 2026/27 School Year!

Hello! I am excited to welcome you to 8th Grade US History/Social Studies at Trafford Middle School!

📚 Curriculum Focus & Learning Approach

This year, our main goal is to bring history to life by diving into primary sources. In Room 204, we actively embrace the 4 C's:

  • Communication

  • Creativity

  • Collaboration

  • Critical Thinking

We will also focus heavily on developing literacy skills through our social studies content. As we investigate historical topics through a variety of lenses, students will analyze, interpret, discuss, develop claims, and ponder major events and ideas.

💻 Google Classroom & Lesson Plans: We will use Google Classroom as our central hub for lesson plans, course materials, and key information throughout the year.

  • Student Access: Students will sign up for Google Classroom during the first week of school.

  • Parent/Guardian Access: Invitations will be sent out during the first week so you can receive weekly parent updates.

  • Lesson Plan Access: You can view my plans anytime: [Click here for 8th grade plans]

Note on Plan Updates: Weekly lesson plans will be updated by Monday morning of the current week (though typically much earlier!). Google Classroom will be updated daily or weekly as needed.

📞 Communication & Availability: I look forward to maintaining open communication with you this year as we work together to build an enriching, supportive, and engaging environment for all students. Please reach out whenever you have questions or concerns.

  • Email: Send me a message anytime, and I will respond as quickly as possible.

  • Phone: Call Trafford Middle School and select Extension 204.

  • Daily Availability Hours:

    • Morning: 7:15 AM – 8:00 AM

    • Afternoon: 3:00 PM – 3:15 PM

  • Meetings: If you would like to schedule a meeting, please reach out! I am available to meet in person, via Zoom, or over the phone.

Penn-Trafford Student Handbook Materials & Parent Sign Off Pages

All students must complete the handbook test, earning 85% or higher (25/30) on this test. If this score is not achieved, students will be required to complete a retake of the test.

Parents/Guardians will use Powerschool in order to complete the annual required documents -- both the Handbook sign off sheet and the Internet usage policies. Both of these must be completed by Friday, September 4th.

Activity Review -- this will be an in class activity that we will complete along with guided review and discussion about the various portions of the handbook prior to the test.
